Catherine’s Bio:

My mom was a fine violinist and my dad played viola for the Boston symphony. Music was deeply embedded in my imagination. I was smitten with Brahms from my high school years. The iconic print of the bearded, rotund maestro hung in my room. He was ever at the piano with arms outstretched, hands resting on keys, as a cigar with a stub of ashes jutted from his lips. And when my piano teacher gave me a baton I, sort of, conducted Brahms’ first symphony to great acclaim--- in front of the bathroom mirror.

New York burgeons with opportunity--so off I went. All kinds of projects and collaborations came my way and for the first time I thought to turn a recital into a cd. It's been a different artistic process altogether. Recording is about performance but ultimately it demands a precise and patient way of listening. My husband and son, though supportive, started to laugh and roll their eyes when, again… and again, our home filled with the sound of waltzes. But the ongoing exploration helped reveal and refine our sound.

There is something else about recording. A live performance lives in memory but is ultimately evanescent. I am grateful that our efforts are now a cd. My parents shared with me their love for Brahms and now our musical offering is ready to be shared by, well, everyone.
